EMPLOYERS AND WORK PLACEMENTS

As a part of Digital Futures, it is important that our students have a chance to try their new skills out in a real-world work environment. We are looking for local businesses to get involved with London's most exciting new tech education project by providing work placements during late-July and August.

How your business can benefit:

  • Our students are looking for 2-4 week work placements

  • We choose a suitable student for your business, and can monitor their performance throughout their placement.

  • The student will come with a ‘scheme of work’ previously agreed with your business to ensure they make a fast and effective contribution to your business.

  • Your business can be promoted on our print and digital publicity as a partner helping to improve youth employment in London.

What skills can a Digital Futures intern bring to your business?

This July, our students will receive an introduction to:

  • Rapid prototyping

  • Design thinking

  • Computational thinking

  • Core Fundamentals of Programming

  • Physical Computing

  • Electronics

As well as soft employment skills, such as:

  • Interviewing and CV preparation

  • Timekeeping

  • Communication and debate

  • Presentation

  • Project management

Mapping our successes

Our notable student successes include:

  • James Chu, who released a beta version of My London Home’s new app just one week into his work placement.

  • Kellyana Smith, who was offered a permanent role by Panacea Software, a provider of software support to town and city councils across the South East.

Why take part?

Digital Futures makes a huge difference for the lucky young people who take part, allowing them to craft their technical and life skills, gain employment or choose an apprenticeship.
