ROOTS & SHOOTS
Growing as People
The Bridge at Waterloo is proud to announce our partnership with Roots and Shoots, a local charity that provides vocational training to people from the inner city.
Roots and Shoots provides training for horticulture and floristry students, up to the NPTC Level 1 diploma. Their students are provided with work experience in the beautiful garden of St. John's, Waterloo, working closely with our team of professional gardeners, under the guidance of Roots and Shoot's teaching staff.
Through The Bridge at Waterloo, students have gained work experience to qualify for their Diploma in Horticulture in our garden. Two groups of students have gained credits toward their Floristry course as a result of creating flower arrangements for special occasions at St. John's.
Both Roots and Shoots and The Bridge at Waterloo are committed to training young people to fulfil their potential. Through this new partnership, we hope to improve the lives of young people in South London.

St. John's Garden
St John’s and The Bridge at Waterloo are the proud stewards of a beautiful churchyard and wide, undulating garden, right in the heart of London's busy Waterloo. With its landscape features, network of pathways, mosaic sculptures and landmark 'Memory Bench', this is a treasured and welcoming sanctuary.
The garden is the winner of a Green Flag, the national standard for high-quality open spaces, was awarded the Silver Eco-Church Award and in 2017, entering for the first time, won a London in Bloom Silver award.
